(1) The Defence Industrial Strategy
The Defence Industrial Strategy (EID 2023) is a plan to strengthen the country’s defence industry by increasing its strategic autonomy, fostering innovation and competitiveness, and consolidating a Defence Industrial and Technological Base (BITD).
Its objectives are set against a backdrop of budgetary increases and aim to make the defence industry a key economic driver, capable of supplying the Armed Forces and contributing to the ‘Europe of Defence’.
It constitutes the roadmap around which defence industry policy is structured, with a clear objective of promoting its development in a healthy manner that is integrated with the rest of Spanish industry.

(2) The Defence Industry Register
The Defence Industry Register maintained by the Directorate-General for Defence Industry Strategy and Innovation (DIGEID) is the Ministry of Defence’s official database, which compiles information on the industrial, technological and financial capabilities of companies linked to the defence industry. Registering with this register is essential for:
- Appearing in the Spanish Defence Industry Catalogue.
- Participating in national and international tenders that require registration.
- Applying for approvals and certifications (such as PECAL).
- Accessing European projects (EDF, EDA, NATO) and strategic programmes.

(3) DEFENCE INDUSTRY CATALOGUE
The Defence Industry Catalogue is a document that systematically sets out the capabilities of the Spanish defence industry, with a view to facilitating both its entry into foreign markets and its international presence as a technology partner in cooperative programmes. It also provides data on the sector’s key indicators in Spain.
